A tribute to Nick Niedert, Danbury hockey legend

by Casey Bryant

Hat Tricks goaltender Nick Niedert announced last week on his social media page that he would not be returning to the team next season. We decided to give Nick the send-off that he deserves.

Niedert, 37, spent six seasons in Danbury, including stints with the Danbury Whalers from 2010-13, to the Danbury Titans in 2015-16 and '16-'17. His last win came on December 28th, 2019- a 30-save 3-2 triumph over the Elmira Enforcers. He earned 50 career victories in the Hat City, including five for the 2013 Commissioner's Cup champion Danbury Whalers.

The Danbury Hat Tricks would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Nick for his years of devotion to the city, and we wish him all the best of luck in his next chapter!
