by Danbury Hat Tricks

DANBURY — The Danbury Hat Tricks have re-signed alternate captain Kyle Gonzalez to a contract for the 2024-25 season.

The 30-year-old defenseman is set to enter his fourth season with the Hat Tricks. Gonzalez, who missed 38 games last season due to an upper-body injury, finished the campaign with nine points (3g, 6a) in 19 regular season games and posted a +14 rating. Despite being sidelined for more than half of the regular season, the Chino Hills, CA native played a key role both in the locker room and on the bench as a player-coach.

"Kyle is the type of person and player we strive to sign every season," Head Coach and General Manager Billy McCreary said. "He is an extremely selfless individual with a high compete level and is a centerpiece of our team. He thinks the game at a high level and has the ability to contribute at both ends of the rink."

During Danbury’s Commissioner’s Cup-winning season, Gonzalez was as good as advertised, providing a calming presence on the back end while recording a career-high 34 points (3g, 31a) in 54 games.

Welcome back, Gonzo!
