Anderson, Ruiz, Oliver first to re-sign with Hat Tricks for 2020-21
The Danbury Hat Tricks made a trio of signings over the weekend for the 2020-21 season, prioritizing retaining their core. Forwards Cory Anderson and Jonny Ruiz along with defender Easton Oliver have officially inked contracts to play in the Hat City come autumn.
Anderson earned the nickname "Scorey" last season, and for good reason. He finished second on the team in goals with 24 including a team-best nine on the powerplay (3rd in the league). Anderson also finished tied for the team lead in penalty minutes thanks to a multitude of fighting majors on the season, racking up 85 PIMs in 36 games.
Ruiz was voted Rookie of the Year in the 2019-20 Fan Awards for his spectacular first pro campaign. He led the team with 25 goals, totaled 49 points and finished with seven game-winners- second-most in the league.
Oliver impressed in his limited time in Danbury last season as a steady presence on the back end. He established himself as a dependable option on a beaten-up defensive corps, making intelligent puck plays in his own end and taking the body when necessary. He brings a veteran presence to the blueline as a Commissioner's Cup champion with the 2017 Danville Dashers.
"The fact that these three guys are committed to coming back to finish our goal from last season speaks volumes to the character in that locker room," commented Hat Tricks head coach/general manager Billy McCreary. "Not only were all three instrumental in building our culture during our inaugural season, they now have the opportunity to contribute on a greater level and help us bring a Commissioner's Cup to Danbury."
