Game Recap: Hat Tricks Swept in NYS Weekend Road Trip, 4-2 Loss in Elmira Saturday

by Doug Lattuca & Jordan Simmons

ELMIRA, NY — The Hat Tricks surrendered three straight third period goals in a 4-2 loss to Elmira on Saturday night. The Hat Tricks are now 2-1-0-0 against the River Sharks this season accumulating six of a possible nine points.

The Hat Tricks started the scoring midway through the first period when forward Brandon Stojcevski tapped in a net-side feed from defenseman Zach Pamaylaon on the power play for Stojcevski's third goal in three games against Elmira.

About a minute and a half later, Hat Tricks forward Corey Cunningham was removed from the game for kicking an opposing player. That ejection started a parade to the penalty box which eventually led to the Hat Tricks attempting to kill off a five-on-three. River Sharks forward Houston Wilson made the Hat Tricks pay and buried his third power play goal in as many games to even the score at 1-1 with 3:46 remaining.

After an offensively quiet second period, things ramped up in the third when Hat Tricks forward Sam Dabrowski capitalized on a rebound snapping home his seventh goal of the season to give the Hat Tricks a 2-1 lead.

At 11:00 Elmira took advantage of a four-on-four opportunity in the offensive zone. Defenseman Steven Ford scored from the right circle to tie it up. Just over a minute and a half later, Elmira forward Luke Richards hooked it around the net and slid the puck under the pad of McCollum to spring Elmira in front. With 34 seconds remaining, Elmira forward Elijah Wilson added the empty-net insurance tally to balloon the lead to 4-2.

Next up, the Hat Tricks welcome the Port Huron Prowlers to Danbury for the first two games of five this season. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22 and Saturday, Dec. 23 at 7 pm.
