Hat Tricks sign center Carter Shinkaruk

by Casey Bryant

The Danbury Hat Tricks have executed a series of roster moves today, among them the signing of experienced center Carter Shinkaruk to the team.

Shinkaruk, 28, joins Danbury from the Evansville Thunderbolts in the SPHL where he played parts of three seasons. Shinkaruk amassed 28 points in 76 career SPHL games with Evansville and the Huntsville Havoc. He also has ECHL experience with the Idaho Steelheads after a successful collegiate career at Elmira College.

"We're excited to see what Carter can do," head coach Billy McCreary said. "He provides good depth down the middle, he's got good experience...We think he can bring something a little different to the team. We're happy to have him aboard."

Shinkaruk is a cousin of former Vancouver Canucks first-round pick Hunter Shinkaruk, who was drafted 24th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Danbury also announced that forward Adam Howey was traded to the Battle Creek Rumble Bees for cash considerations. Forwards Josh Newberg and Stavros Soilis have been released from their contracts.

The Danbury Hat Tricks will be in action Friday and Saturday night on home ice against the Elmira Enforcers. Tickets can be purchased here or by calling 203-794-1704. Live game streaming will be featured on the Danbury Hat Tricks Youtube channel.
