DANBURY, CT - Jim Cerny has been named “Hat Tricks Insider” by the Danbury Hat Tricks of the Federal Prospects Hockey League.

In his role, Cerny will serve as on-air analyst for Hat Tricks broadcasts and provide Insider content, including exclusive interviews, blogs and stories, for the team’s official web site, www.danburyhattricks.com.

Cerny has worked for more than two decades in professional hockey. He was the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the New York Islanders and for nine seasons was the digital content producer and in-house beat reporter for the New York Rangers.

The veteran journalist has covered hockey for The New York Times and Sporting News and is senior editor for NHL.com. He also co-hosted the NHL Live talk show with Don Lagreca of ESPN Radio.

In addition to his work in hockey, Cerny spent 11 seasons in minor league baseball, where he called three league championships as broadcaster for the New Jersey Jackals and one with the Newark Bears. Cerny ran baseball operations as assistant general manager when the Bears won the Atlantic League championship in 2007.

“My goal is to use all forms of digital media to help tell the inside story of the Hat Tricks and help strengthen the bond between the team and its loyal fans,” Cerny said. “I appreciate the opportunity Herm Sorcher has given me and am excited to work with my broadcast and digital partners, Josh Starr and Chad Oklin-Jolin.”
