Kelley rejoins Hat Tricks in slew of roster moves

by Casey Bryant

The Danbury Hat Tricks executed a series of roster moves today, chief among them reuniting with goaltender Dillon Kelley. Also added to the active roster are defenseman Ricardo Salinas and forwards John Scully and Austin Jackson. Dallas Ingram and Eric Witzel have been waived to accommodate the additions.

Kelley was 5-1-0 with the Hat Tricks before signing with the Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL. He appeared in two games, and rejoins the Hat Tricks after being released from his contract.

Salinas, 24, is a talented offensive defenseman from Aurora University. There, he registered 75 points in 75 games, anchoring the blueline as a puck-moving offensive quarterback.

Scully, 27, most recently played with the Quad City Storm of the SPHL. He notched 22 points in 54 games in the 2018-19 season. Scully was also a key piece for the 2016-17 Danbury Titans and was a former captain of the Brewster Bulldogs in 2015-16.

Jackson, 24, is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Stout. He previously played junior hockey with the NAHL Minnesota Magicians and NA3HL North Iowa Bulls, where he posted 116 points in 94 games.

"We're excited about the opportunity here in front of us this weekend," head coach Billy McCreary commented. "We've got new faces, but that's nothing new for us. We're confident in our leadership group and we're confident in our locker room."

Salinas, Scully and Jackson are expected to dress for tonight's game against the Thunderbirds in Bloomington. Kelley will not dress tonight. Tom McGuckin has been named starting goaltender.

Scully and Jackson are expected only to be temporary additions, unlikely to remain with the team following this weekend in Illinois.
