Niedert loaned to ECHL, will join Royals

by Casey Bryant

Hockey's most prolific EBUG is on the move once again. Nick Niedert has been loaned to the Reading Royals of the ECHL and is expected to dress for their game this Friday, January 17th.

Niedert, 37, started a game for the Royals last season, making national headlines by turning aside 38 shots en route to a 2-1 Reading victory over the Adirondack Thunder. Niedert would call the dramatic, tightly-contested win "the most impressive, complete game I've ever seen" in an interview with NBC Sports.

This is the ninth ECHL stint of Niedert's 16-year career.  As luck would have it, the Royals will be squaring off with the team Niedert bested in November 2018- the Adirondack Thunder.

The Hat Tricks, meanwhile, will be at home Friday night battling the Elmira Enforcers. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
