X and ZP's Assist Community Can Drive

by Herm Sorcher

DANBURY — The Danbury Hat Tricks are proud to announce a new program titled, X and ZP's Assist.

This program connects to the team hosting a food/can drive for the benefit of local pantries and shelters in the community for the team’s remaining games in December on the 22nd, 23rd, & 30th.

The mission was launched through the efforts of Danbury Hat Tricks Defensemen #6 Xavier Abdella and #55 Zach Pamylaon, who initiated the conversation about the team connecting to the community to support the food banks in Danbury.

Fans are encouraged to participate in the program by bringing their canned/non-perishable goods to the games on those dates and dropping them in the bins at the front desk.  If you cannot make those home games, bins will be there throughout the week.

The name X and ZP's Assist connects to the most famous assists in Danbury professional hockey history.  In Game 5 of the Championship series in 2023 vs. Carolina, Abdella took a pass from Pamaylaon, skated towards the net, fired a backhand, which was finished on the rebound by #88 Michael Marchesan for the Game Winning Overtime Goal.

“I love to give back to the community and the game," said Abdella. "Danbury has given me so much, and in this way to assist others. I am beyond grateful.”

“This is just a small way we can offer comfort to others. I appreciate all of the fans rallying with us.”
